The dance hall

Another word for dance room is the ballroom. At that time in this elegant balls were held. The ballroom was a constituent of locks and an aristocratic establishment in 17/18. Century. Many citizens were in the ballrooms of 19th Century built. By entering these funds were then funded. Many ballrooms were linked to restaurants. Mostly waltzes were danced at balls and couple dances. As the dance floor hall was quite large, this enabled Kontratänze. Kontratänze were dancing games between several pairs. One of them was the quadrille, a French contredanse, who was in Paris to the days of Napoleon. There was also space for public and lodges around the dance floor around. A suitable acoustics had to be there, because the dance music was always played live.

The shoes of the dancers were elegant, so the room needed a stable floor. Dance bands were hired specifically for the balls, mostly this was a professional string orchestra. Depending on the season, some rooms were also often used as indoor swimming pools. One example is the old halls. But at some point the social significance disappeared from the halls (at the end of the First World War) and they were converted or demolished as well. But there are a few ballrooms, which are now as night clubs and discotheques in use, such as the Webster Hall in New York City. Passenger steamers and many hotels, which have been built in 1900, possessed ballrooms. The Vienna Chamber Opera is now set up in the ballroom of the Hotel Post in Vienna, a cinema located in the ballroom of the Hotel National in Berne and at the Bowery Ballroom in Manhattan to play concerts today.
